Boduhithi and its neighbouring island of Kudahithi were formerly Club Vacanze resorts totally the domain of Italian holidaymakers. They now are part of the prestigious Coco Palm collection owned by Sunland Hotels. Boduhithi has just undergone a major reconstruction putting is securely in the list of the best resorts the Maldives has to offer. As with all new resorts it had its teething problems at the back end of 2006 on start up but it is now complete and maturing into a superb getaway for honeymooners and couples wanting total peace and relaxation in style.
This medium sized island has good vegetation with plenty of tall palm trees, particularly around the reception & arrivals area. We are very impressed with the new Island Villas which are generously sized, very well equipped with Plasma TV and DVD player, designer bathroom facilities and complimented by a wonderful private pool off the bedroom and a good sized patio leading to the beach closeby. At a time when some resort's prices are verging on the ridiculous, Boduhithi's Island Villas are luxurious and whilst still not cheap do still offer some sense of value for money.
There are 3 categories of accommodation over the water, namely Water Villas, Escape Water Villas and Escape Water Residencies. All are superbly appointed and come with a good sized infinity pool on the deck with great views over the lagoon. For the perfect holiday start off in an Island Villa and finish the last few days in a Water Villa.
The food at Boduhithi is exceptional and is one the primary reasons for staying here. The Air Restaurant is the main restaurant (buffet style) while the Aqua Restaurant offers you the chance to dine romatically over the water. Alternatively dine on the beach at the al fresco Breezes. Special dinners can be arranged on the beach, on a sand bank or while enjoying a cruise. Enjoy a drink at the excellent Latitude Bar.
The Coco Spa offers treatments from Indonesia, Thailand and India (Ayurvedic) offering a collection of special skin care products which can be purchased at the Spa Boutique. There are also Yoga and Tai Chi pavillions.
There are 5 passages to the surrounding lagoon which offers good snorkelling. Dive Ocean is a 5-Star PADI dive center. The Watersports Centre is well equipped and the equipment all pristine and new. For those with the energy to spare on land there is a superb over-the-water Fitness Centre with an excellent selection of machines, treadmills, weights, etc. Near to reception nestled amongst the palm trees is the best all-weather tennis court I have seen in the Maldives. Badminton is also available. If you cant escape your business or feel the need to stay connected to home Boduhithi has a high-speed internet connection.
Now that the construction is totally complete, the titivating is underway including cleaning up the house reef. What is now a great resort can only get even better in the future as things bed down. We highly recommend this piece of paradise in the Indian Ocean.
