The ideal resort island is one that has a house-reef close by on one side and a beach with a sheltered lagoon on the other. This is exactly what Vilu Reef offers. The north side is close enough to the reef edge to swim to while the south side has a large sandy lagoon which is perfect for swimming, canoeing, sailing, windsurfing and waterskiing. The jacuzzi water villas have a good depth of water for those wanting to use the stairs down from their sundeck. The island has no unsightly groynes or seawalls and the beach runs right around the island for most of the year, ideal for a stroll in the early morning or at dusk.
Combine Vilu Reef's great natural assets with excellent accommodation and the fantastic new swimming pool and you have a good 4-star resort. Your stay can be on half board, full board or all-inclusive to suit your specific holiday needs.
One has to feel some sympathy for the owners. After a substantial upgrade last year the refurbished resort was re-launched only a few days before the tsunami. The resort did have a short shutdown in early 2005 but is now fully operational. Great for family holidays with plenty to keep all ages happy.
