The picturesque getaway island of Ihuru (meaning 'old palm trees' in Dhivehi, Maldivian language) is located in North Male Atoll, a 20 minute speedboat ride from Hulhule International Airport. The island spans an area of 25,000 sq metres of lush greenery covering 590 metres of the most beaufiful palm fringed beaches with crystal waters and kaleidoscopic reefs.
Ever since the environmentally conscious island of Ihuru became the winner of the first Maldivian Environment Preservation Award in 1996, every effort has been made to ensure the delicate natural surrounds of the island remain pristine and protected. The resort is continuing with a variety of projects such as turtle breeding, reef clearing, barnacle building and sand bags to protect against soil erosion.
The resort also offers interesting biological classes and escorted snorkelling safaris to encourage guests participation.
